Last-Mile Delivery denotes the last leg of the delivery process, where goods are transferred from a local depot to the final recipients. Its inefficiencies, driven by the need for a large num- ber of relatively small vehicles and high labor intensity, makes it the most expensive part of the overall delivery process. Since its introduction, the Vehicle Routing Problem, modelling the routing of a fleet of vehicles starting from a depot, visiting the customers exactly once, and returning to the depot, played a pivotal role in Operations Research in general and Last- Mile Delivery in particular (Dantzig and Ramser, 1959). Over the decades, researchers and practitioners alike have been looking for innovative extensions and improvements to the original problem. Such improvements include new models and algorithms to solve existing problems more efficiently, and novel delivery paradigms to extend the delivery mechanisms beyond traditional truck-based operations.

Abstract
Such improvements include new models and algorithms to solve existing problems more efficiently, and novel delivery paradigms to extend the delivery mechanisms beyond traditional truck-based operations.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
