Supervisory roles and gender wage inequality in the Spanish hospitality sector

This study explores the role of supervisory responsibilities in shaping gender wage inequality in Spanish hospitality sector, using data from the Structure of Earnings Survey (2002-2022). Employing distributional regression and Oaxaca-Blinder Recentered Influence Function (OB-RIF) decomposition methods, the results show that men experience greater wage dispersion, with women predominantly concentrated at the lower end of the wage distribution. These findings underscore the importance of access to supervisory responsibilities in reducing gender inequality and highlight the need for policy measures supporting women's career advancement in a predominantly female sector.
