In the last years, there has been a multilevel process of increasing regulation of the standards for responsible business conduct. This legal innovation involves opportunities and risks. Stemming from the analysis of the recent Fao-OECD “Guidelines for responsible agricultural supply chains”, the contribution addresses the question of the impact of business conduct on respect for human rights in the agri-food chains, problematizing the consequences of the emerging discipline on the progressive realization of economic rights, social and cultural issues, including the right to adequate food.
