The authors make a review of the actions and techniques which may be used by clinicians when facing traumatic experiences of their patients. Assuming that care of the “person” and not of the “noise” must be considered as a priority, the authors argue that there is no elective treatment of trauma. Several approaches may be adopted: integrated multiple treatments, the analytic treatment, sensorimotor psychotherapy, EMDR method, art therapy, yoga practice, mindfulness and others. The best action stems from a creative approach, concerned with and respectful of the person that we face, an accomplice of the therapist's ability to enter into a relationship by building a secure environment where the patient may express the traumatic experience. Moreover, the authors draw upon neuroscience and neuropsychological contributions, which have made a fundamental expansion of knowledge on trauma.
