Epilessia farmacosensibile, oligogiria, ritardo mentale, assenza di microcefalia in due pazienti pediatrici: associazione casuale o entità peculiare

The term “oligogyria” is used to describe a simplified gyral pattern characterized by a reduced number of gyri and shallow sulci, always associated with microcephaly. We report the history of two children affected by drug sensitive epilepsy, mild mental retardation and oligogyria without microcephaly. Our work support the hypothesis that a simplified gyral pattern can be associated with a normal head circumference and that it can represent a peculiar entity associated with drug sensitive epilepsy and mild mental retardation
