After demonstrating that uPA overexpression is an unfavourable prognostic factor for human HCC ( Cancer Res 1998 De Petro et al, Int J Cancer 2000, Tavian et al) we proposed and studied uPA overexpression as target for anti-cancer therapy of HCC. The technologies of antisense RNA and shRNA were both effective in silencing uPA in HCC.
