Perinatal Clinical Psychology takes care of infant psychic development, primary parent-child relationship and deals with the problems related to the generativity and parenting projects of the woman and the couple during prenatal and neonatal period. Its aims are promoting protective factors and preventing risk elements for the child’s development and for parents raising as support to the primary relationships. Perinatal Clinical Psychology studies the intrapsychic, interpersonal and trans-generational mental processes. In this paper, we present a short synthesis of the origin and development over time of the main concepts that are used in the perinatal clinical psychology interventions and researches in the Clinical Psychology Division of the University of Brescia.

Abstract
