This contribution speculates on the influence of the methods of avant-garde artistic movements in the early twentieth century on the subsequent architectural production of Giancarlo De Carlo. The protagonist of this relationship is the conception of “space”, a fundamental component of architectural and urban design. To this end, De Carlo’s work has been read according to these two interpretations: his anarchist and situationist humanism, and his articulation of space trough series of thresholds.
