Circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) is a phenomenon that has received increased attention from the communities of chemists, physicists, and material science experts. CPL measurements are conducted to investigate the excited state of compounds in solution as well as of strongly aggregated and multiform systems. A useful parameter to look at is the Kuhn dissymmetry ratio g lum . The value of g lum is indeed indicative of different effects either originated at the molecular level or rooted in some cooperative supramolecular phenomena. We consider here simple molecules that present structural or electronic effects reflected by the observed g lum and then systems with increasing complexity, including metal complexes, stereodynamic systems, polymers, and aggregated G-quartet gels. Attention will also be paid to the light propagation within chirally imprinted environments.
