Abstract

In the suburbs, the project for the redevelopment of public spaces conflicts with pragmatic demands for action linked to a permanent ‘state of emergency’. These are places where resources are scarce; where critical issues can overshadow any posi-tivity of this important, though uncomfortable, heritage. The chapter focuses on some examples of bottom-up urban regeneration, where the triggering of unseen human relations has become a main element for the metamorphosis of the peripheral urban landscape. The ‘fuse’ for developing previously unknown public spaces, constantly, in the process of becoming.
