This article intends to analyse the historical course of the Brescian notariat in the early modern era, paying specific attention to ‘irregular’ figures that emerge in deep research within the notary guild. Starting from the analysis of quantitative data and the rules that governed the collegiate association, complex biographies are thus defined, which intersect different fields of technical and professional knowledge in Brescia between the 15th and 16th centuries. To do this, the vicissitudes of notary-chroniclers, notary-patrons and notary-artists are investigated, among whom the figure of Clemente Zamara emerges, a rare case of notary and sculptor at the same time.

Abstract
This article intends to analyse the historical course of the Brescian notariat in the early modern era, paying specific attention to ‘irregular’ figures that emerge in deep research within the notary guild. Starting from the analysis of quantitative data and the rules that governed the collegiate association, complex biographies are thus defined, which intersect different fields of technical and professional knowledge in Brescia between the 15th and 16th centuries. To do this, the vicissitudes of notary-chroniclers, notary-patrons and notary-artists are investigated, among whom the figure of Clemente Zamara emerges, a rare case of notary and sculptor at the same time.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
