The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is one of the world’s most influential nonprofit organizations that publishes guidelines on nonfinancial information. GRI defines itself as a pioneer of sustainability reporting and it has largely contributed to enhancing the quality and diffusion of this kind of reporting in both developed and emerging countries since the end of the twentieth century. GRI firmly believes that fair, effective and transparent reporting on the economic, social and environmental performance of an organization produces broad benefits for the organization itself, but also for its stakeholders and society at large. For this reason, GRI performs varied and complex activities, supporting the organizations that are committed to sustainability reporting. In addition to its main activity as a globally recognized standard-setter, GRI encourages dialogue on sustainability reporting through conferences, summits and strategic partnerships. Moreover, GRI offers chargeable services to individual organizations and professionals involved in the sustainability reporting process.
