Prime riflessioni sui libri d’architettura e d’arte di Rodolfo Vantini. Formazione, consistenza e schedatura del «Legato Vantini» della biblioteca Queriniana di Brescia

Rodolfo Vantini died in 1856 bequeathing to his second wife, Caterina Amistani, the books belonging its private library. This collection of books, after a few years, was stored at the public library of Brescia (Biblioteca Queriniana); it consisted of books of various genres, mainly written in Italian and French, most of which was published in the Eighteenth and Nineteenth century. The current study investigated architecture and architecture-related books; for those publications, at end of the paper, a complete list is proposed; moreover a brief filing is collected in the CD-ROM attached to this volume. The research was conducted on unpublished documents identified in the most important archives of the city of Brescia. The paper offers some preliminary brief reflections on the characteristics of Rodolfo Vantini’s library.
