The paper, focusing on the Castle of Brescia and the Cidneo hill complex, investigates the difficult relationship between this former military site and the city below, from the sharp dichotomy settled in the Medieval and in the Modern age up to the problematic and challenging process of its civic repossess and its inclusion in the urban pattern begun in the late Nineteenth century, lively debated during the Twentieth century and still unsolved.
