Different tests are adopted by international standards for the evaluation of the mechanical properties of fiber reinforced concretes (FRCs). Among them, small beams are generally used. In particular, the Model Code 2010, refers to notched beam tests performed according to EN14651 but, considering the different standard methods adopted worldwide, it opens the door to different test methodologies. In fact, different tests are accepted by Model Code 2010 if correlation factors among different standard parameters are proven. This possibility allows the Model Coded 2010, which is published by an international organization, to be used in different Countries. Within this contest, a broad experimental program was carried out in order to evaluate the correlations between the parameters required by different standards for softening materials under flexure. European standard EN14651, American standard ASTM1609 and Japanese standard JCI-SF4 were studied by means of experimental tests on 189 small beams made of polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete (PFRC). Based on these experimental results, correlations are proposed at both serviceability and ultimate limit states. These correlations can be very useful for harmonizing the different standards methods adopted for the characterization of fiber reinforced concretes.
