Francesco Gambara (1576-1630) was a still not well-known exponent of the famous Brescian family, who spent his life among Bologna, Rome, Venice and Brescia, improving an extraordinary inclination to collect huge quantities of works of art, luxury goods and books. Through the analysis of a vast range of inventories, both written for books and for other movables, when Francesco was still alive, the paper explores the link between books, rooms, and furniture, which were devoted to house these particular kinds of objects inside his palaces.

Abstract
Francesco Gambara (1576-1630) was a still not well-known exponent of the famous Brescian family, who spent his life among Bologna, Rome, Venice and Brescia, improving an extraordinary inclination to collect huge quantities of works of art, luxury goods and books. Through the analysis of a vast range of inventories, both written for books and for other movables, when Francesco was still alive, the paper explores the link between books, rooms, and furniture, which were devoted to house these particular kinds of objects inside his palaces.File in questo prodotto:
