This paper discusses the application of a gamification framework in an end-user development context, in order to investigate a possible solution to the problem of participation and collaboration overload often affecting end-user development activities. Indeed, it has been observed in the literature that when users are required to develop or adapt a system for the sake of other people (belonging or not belonging to the same community) and not just for personal use, motivation mechanisms should be implemented. With the help of an example in the field of ambient intelligence, we propose the integration of end-user development environments with gamification elements. Abstract
