«COSTRUIRE, NON RICOSTRUIRE». DANNI BELLICI E RESTAURI NEL NUCLEO ANTICO DI BRESCIA (1944-1954). Brescia historical city centre, even if the city had not an important military and strategic role, was seriously damaged by aerial bombardment during the second world war. Many monuments were seriously damaged. The reconstruction started rapidly the day after the end of the war. In many cases, however, the interventions were not limited to repair damages, but the war was the occasion to continue the project of putting in order the historical city centre. This project was started in the 30th with the approval of Piacentini master plan. In other cases war damages were the occasion to increase buildings volume and to improve viability network.
