The paper focuses on the study of the final lining (second phase) of a tunnel excavated by means of conventional method. Numerical nonlinear analyses were carried out by considering different load conditions in order to investigate the lining behaviour and to achieve a reinforcement optimization. In particular, special attention is devoted to an optimized reinforcement based on the combination of conventional (rebars) and fiber reinforcement (FRC). The results are applied on a real case of a tunnel with an internal diameter of 12,6 m, an average thickness of the arch of about 1100 mm and an average thickness of the invert of 900 mm.
