The first Virtual Reference Station Demo Test in Italy – managed by the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Brescia in collaboration with Trimble Italia – has been set up in the North of the Country, where a four stations network through Brescia, Cremona, Mantova, and Verona has been established, in order to evaluate the real potentiality of the new concept, in terms of accuracy, precision, and reliability. For the opportunity a wide test site has been made inside the network and through the borderline, where some tests have been carried out. The paper describes the network installation and activation, the adopted technical solutions, the instrumentation equipment and the main operational requirements. The first results are presented.
