Nuovi modelli rur-urbani per il recupero della città esistente. / New rur-urban models for the renewal of the existing city.

In the last decades of the twentieth century, the physical and social changes of the big cities have now been fully implemented, giving rise to a profound transformation of our urban landscapes, which has slipped deeper into a substantial con-fusion between city and countryside, with an ever more massive presence of infrastructure networks. (Bocchi, 2005). About the 60% of the Italian population lives in the suburbs, causing considerable problem of consumption and pollution. Millions of commuters live in peri-urban hybrid places that mark the undefined border between town and country. In the Hamletic incertitude between vertical dense city (but inhuman) or horizontal widespread city (surrounded by the Nature), where can the ancient agricultural practice find space? According to which models of urban renewal and rurban renewal can agriculture play a social role of innovative instrument? Today it seems that investors seek free urban areas in central areas, especially areas where there are not particular problems of proximity to existing buildings, preferring therefore the marginal areas bordering the great bands and railway infrastructure, but how can we deal with the problem of the urban void, without identity, which is today more than ever a good part of the urban surface unused or abandoned? The research investigates the possible answers to these questions, trying to interpret the urban void and the peri-urban one as potential places of socialization, on the traces of new interpretative models of the city, inspired by the principles of the Agricivism.
